Rally Obedience Seminar
March 29th & 30, 2008

We hosted our inaugural event on March 29-30, 2008 in the form of a Rally Obedience seminar that was held at TY Park.  The participants learned a lot about performing the signs properly, hosting trials, and becoming Rally judges or representatives.  If you are unfamiliar with Rally Obedience please see our website or go to http://www.apdt.com/po/rally/default.aspx We plan to hold Rally fun matches and trials in this area so those interested can compete to earn titles for their dog in this fun sport.

Lure Coursing

Now... on to what I know most of you are waiting for.  Lure Coursing!  We have received our Lure Coursing Machine and it works like a dream and it is fast, fast, fast!  Your dogs will love it. So far we have only been able to find one of the public parks that has an opening for us during a weekend but it isn't until May 31st.  We have booked the date for Lure Coursing and will make it available that date, but we sure didn't want to wait that long.  So today we finally found out one of the parks may have an opening the weekend of April 26 & 27th and we will be checking with them in the next few days to see if they have the space we need.  So keep your calendars open and we will let you know what the date will be once we have it booked.  Don't forget we have a calendar on our website where each event will be noted:
http://www.performancepupsinc.com/calendar.htm

Also we are coming into summer so we will have to be careful about our dog's safety when having them run in the heat.  Through the summer months when we can provide a lure coursing date we will only have it available in the less aggressive morning sun probably between 8 or 9 am till 11am or so unless we have a way to cool them down with water.

We are also working on other seminars that you might be interested in. The next one we have in the works is for the Tellington Touch, also known as TTouch.

I can be helpful for:
  • Excessive Barking & Chewing
  • Leash Pulling
  • Jumping Up
  • Aggressive Behavior
  • Extreme Fear & Shyness
  • Resistance to Grooming
  • Excitability & Nervousness
  • Car Sickness
  • Problems Associated With Aging

You can see more about it at http://www.lindatellingtonjones.com/whyTTouch.shtml

We will keep you informed about the seminar as more information becomes available.

March/2008

Hi everyone,

I want to start off by saying that we had two very successful shows in the Doggie Palooza at Happy Tails Dog Park in Plantation and Barkapalooza at Markham Park in Sunrise.  Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth to say hello.  We met a wide variety of dog lovers at both shows and wanted to inform you all that we are moving forward with our event planning and club for dogs and their families to come out and play.

We have a calendar up on our website for keeping track of what we are doing.  Although there isn't much on it yet, we hope there will be soon.  This is a huge undertaking and we appreciate your patience while we learn to walk from a crawl and get up and running.

Because we believe in all dogs, not just purebreds we are always on the lookout for sports all breeds can play.  Because of this we added APDT Rally to our repertoire.  APDT stands for Association of Pet Dog Trainers.  And this organization invented the sport.  We have a Rally Seminar coming at the end of the month if you are interested in learning what it is all about.  Rally is a fun obedience sport which was designed as a precursor to regular obedience but you can talk to your dog and help guide them all the way through which makes it less stringent and way more fun!  Check out the website for more information on the seminar.

Next month we have our Skyhoundz Local Discdog Championship on the 19th.  It's free so come out and join us but come early as we are limiting the amount of entrants.  First come, first served.  Check the website for more information.

Now I know that a majority of the people that filled out our cards were interested in Lure Coursing and we  hoped to have had our first lure coursing event by now. We currently have a straight racing machine  but unfortunately realized that it would not be sufficient for the loads of pups that want to run on it. Straight racing is just that, the lure is pulled out away from the lure machine and the dog runs in a straight line chasing the lure.  Most of you that were at Barkapalooza saw the Oval Racing and some of you even participated and realized how much your dogs loved  it.  It takes a different machine to run an oval track and our custom ordered coursing machine is on the way.  So hopefully we should have it in the next couple of weeks (it's being built now) and we will be able to offer our first lure coursing day. Membership is required to run lure coursing (as well as our other up coming events) so sign up now and take advantage of our discounted membership fees.  The biggest benefit to our membership will be discounted entry fees.

We are however going to offer the straight racing lure as a party favor.  So if you or someone you know is having a doggie party or some kind of doggie event and they might like to have lure coursing offered for fun to the dogs, please let us know.
