Fun for you and your dog!

The Lake

The lake is gorgeous and available for you to use to swim your dog on the days we are open.  To find out when we are open, check the calendar page.  Please note: swimming by humans is not allowed at the park.  You can walk and wade in the water but the city ordinance forbids swimming for us two-leggers.

The lake is open year round but once the temperatures reach around 70 degrees in the winter we will make a judgement call whether to open or not.  It gets colder at the lake than at our homes because the wind whips over the lake.  Also if the weather looks bad as it often does in the summer we will make a judgement call an hour before we are set to open as to whether we will open or not.  If we decide to close we will change the calendar for that day to show that we will be closed due to weather.  We will also post on our Facebook page that we won't be open that day.

FEES

The fees for admission to the park which includes the entire time we are open that for that session are as follows:

Doggy Beach $5.00 per dog

Dock Use: $7.00 per dog.

CASH ONLY (OR PURCHASE A PREPAID PASS IN OUR ONLINE STORE)

If you pay for the dock, the use of the beach is included.  If you didn't pay for the dock, please don't use the dock.

*We don't currently don't accept credit cards for lake admission.

If you come to the morning session and want to come back to participate in the evening session another entry fee must be paid to enter the park during the second session.

If you would like to rent the lake privately please see the "Rent the Lake" page.

INTERACT WITH YOUR DOG:

Please note that we are not like a regular dog park you may have been to in the past.  We encourage owners to interact with their dogs, not to just set them free to entertain themselves.  Please watch your dog and interact with your dog while you are at the lake.  Teaching your dog to retrieve a toy out of the water is one of the best ways to entertain your dog while at the park not to mention some of the most tiring!  If your dog is a toy stealer, please be cognicent of this and not allow your dog to steal other dog's toys or at least return the toy to the owner as soon as possible.

Cell Phones

You have your friends, family, computers and cell phones, your dog only has you.  Please dont bring your dog to the park and be on your cell phone the whole time you are there.  That is not fair to your dog.  He should have your attention! Play with him!

AGGRESSION AND SOCIALIZATION:

If your dog is aggressive, or has been some time in the past, to people or other dogs please don’t come to our park.  If your dog causes injury to another dog or a human you will be held responsible and of course your dog will be banned from the park.

If your dog is no longer a puppy and it has not been around other dogs so you aren’t sure if it gets along with other dogs please don’t come to our park. We can not allow someone to use our patrons to find out if a dog gets along with other dogs.  That should be done in a smaller, less emotionally charged situation.

If your dog is a very young puppy, 4-6 mo, you can come to the park but please understand that the goings on may be to much for your puppy to handle. (This is not socialization)  Please don’t force him to interact with other dogs.  If he wants to just sit in the corner or under a chair, please allow him to do so.  He feels unsafe and needs to take it all in before he can interact with the other dogs. Sit with him and advocate for him, not allowing other dogs to bully him.  This can cause reactivity problems later in your dog’s life among other things.

Physical punishment of  dogs (yours or someone else's)  will not be tolerated and you will have to leave the park. Please be sure to pick up after your dog.  If you don't have poop bags with you that day we have poop bag stations around the park to make it easy for you to help us keep the park clean.  If you don’t pick up after your dog you will haves to leave the park. Thanks for your cooperation.

Thank you to the City of Dania Beach for making our dream of a safe place to swim our dogs a reality!

Weather

We try to do our best to make a decision whether we will open or not if there is bad weather an hour before we are set to open to the public.  We have people that travel to come to the lake and we try to alleviate them making the drive only to find us closed.  Once we do make the decision to close we will post it on our

Facebook page and we will change the calendar on our webpage in "real time" to show we are closed.  It's always best to check before you come if the weather is "iffy". If you are unsure if we are open or not, look at the calendar and "refresh" your web browser to make sure you have the latest data.  With that being said, keep in mind that we are making a decision an hour in advance and there have been times when we decided to close only to have the sun come out 15 minutes before we open.  We know.  It happens but we will not open if we have made the decision to close.

Also, please note that if the weather turns bad during a public session, no refunds or "rain checks" will be given.
